DNS Upgrade
-
My wordpress site http://www.chestercotter.com does not show up. The dashboard is all there and seems to function. In Upgrades it says I need to upgrade DNS with the registrar. I thought WordPress was the registrar. What should I do?
Thanks,
Chester Cotter.

Although chestercotter.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted site, then your configuration may be fine as currently set up. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined below.
To learn about how to correctly map an existing domain, please see our documentation. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/#instructions-for-mapping-an-existing-domain If you’re not sure whether you own this domain or not, the WHOIS database record may help you out. http://www.whois.net/whois/chestercotter.com

chestercotter.com. – the domain name registration seems to be in redemption – that will give you problems as well as the domain mapping has probably expired
You will need staff help to fix the domain name – I will flag this for the staff to help

Hello and thank you auxclass and timethief for looking into this for me.
I searched chestercotter.com with whois.net and it shows wildwestdomains as the registrar. I remember doing everything including choosing chestercotter.com all through wordpress last year but have no recollection of wildwestdomains. A search through my emails brings nothing with wildwestdomains in it.
Can it be all done through wordpress? What should I do?
Thanks,
Chester Cotter.

I searched chestercotter.com with whois.net and it shows wildwestdomains as the registrar.
Wild West is the domain registrar that handles all the WordPress.COM registrations – you do everything with WordPress.COM – what you saw is normal
