DNS Verification? Question

Okay, my host site for the name m-gymkhana.com is WinHost – the code that they have for their DNS is
m06.internetmailserver.net… What I did was place MX100 m06.internetmailserver.net in the field and clicked SAVE DNS RECORDS.

Now what, should the email addressess: (email visible only to moderators and staff) and (email visible only to moderators and staff) work properly now, or do I have to do something else?

I’m confused and need some clarification.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • That should do the trick. It may take between 24–72 hours for the changes to take effect, so please keep that in mind.

My best suggestion until then is to check with your email host to see if they require any other DNS records.

okay, what does the mx100 or mx10 or mx0 stand for?

If they (WinHost)require and other DNS Records? I’m confused, shouldn’t the code I put in WordPress just take care of it?

  • what does the mx100 or mx10 or mx0 stand for?

It’s the mail exchanger record, where the number denotes order of preferred mail server. You can see more details about MX records here:

It should, but since there’s a period of time before DNS changes will take effect, I’m recommending that you check with your email host that there aren’t any other DNS records required. If there aren’t, it’ll just be a matter of time.

My goal is to minimize the amount of time required to get email working with your domain that’s mapped to your WordPress.com blog.

Thanks so much for that clear concise answer it is greatly appreciated. Should I change the 100 to a 0 in order to have the mail server be priority or does it matter at this point in time?

  • You’re welcome!

(It doesn’t matter since it’s the only mail record.)
