DNS Zone File – Access

My domain is registered under register.com – I am still in the process of choosing a hosting site. In the meantime, I’m setting up business as usual. Register.com provides my mail service for my website. Upon sending a test email, I got a ‘Mail Undeliverable’ notice. When I asked what to do – they sent me the following email.

Thank you for contacting Register.com, a Web.com company.

Yes, the Cname entry currently in your zone file at WordPress is wrong. It needs to be updated to
    mail.sarahlennox.com points to webmail05.register.com

The easiest way to do this is to log into your wordpress account and go into your Domain’s settings to where your DNS zone file info is. Find the current Cname you have that says “mail.sarahlennox.com points to sarahlennox.com” and click on the “Edit” option. Once in Edit mode, remove the “sarahlennox.com” from the box and replace it with “webmail05.register.com” and then save the new setting…. If you reply to this email when you have finished this and let me know, I can recheck it for you, and let you know if it is displaying correctly.

Please correct me if I am wrong – but I don’t believe there is any way for me to access my DNS Zone File. Isn’t that something Admin WordPress folks have access to? If there is a way to access it on wordpress.com, could someone please explain how?

On WordPress.com, we do not provide email hosting, but you can connect email hosting from another provider to your custom domain. Here are instructions for using email with your custom domain:

Please let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.
