Do comments marked as spam have an "expiration date?"
-
I would like to clarify a particular policy with WordPress.com
As stated on the website linked here, it says “Spam: comments flagged as possibly unwanted or irrelevant and aren’t visible to your site visitors.”
I would like to clarify that this implies that it is up to the sites’ authors to manually trash the comment or approve of it to remove its presence form being classified as “Spam” as opposed to being automatically deleted after a particular amount of time, as the comments in the trash are.

Hi there,
Comments in the spam folder, whether spammed automatically by Akismet or manually by the site owner, are also deleted automatically after 30 days. So you don’t need to manually delete anything there.
This isn’t a policy matter, by the way. It’s just the way the software is designed to work.
