Do I cancel my free blog @ wordpress in order to move to go daddy domain?
-
I hired someone to help me improve my blog and add plug-ins, ads, etc. Right now I have a free wordpress blog (andbabymakescrazy.com) that is now being moved to go daddy. I have the domain and the hosting paid for at Go Daddy. The web designer wants me to cancel my free account at wordpress. Should I do that? Will I lose my name?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

1. Why would you move to “Go Daddy”?
2. Why does your wordpress account needs to be cancelled? If you delete your wordpress account (if that’s possible) then you’ll loose your blog, you can export your blog going to Tools => Export, I’m not sure whether it will be possible to import this in “Go Daddy” since I’ve never heard of that before.

Yes, if you delete the blog you will lose the name forever. You could just set it to “private” so that it will be inactive. -

@andbabymakescrazy (love it!)- Right now your domain points to your WordPress.COM blog. Although I’m not an expert on the domain mapping thing, I believe you’ll have to remove your domain name in your COM dashboard to point it to your self-hosted blog on your domain. It would be great if someone else could confirm this. http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/ If you don’t get an answer here, drop a note to Support. http://support.wordpress.com/contact/
Good luck on the new blog.
