Do i have to buy a package to use my own domain without having wordpress connected to it?

  I have my own domain name and i was told that I did not have to upgrade to use my domain name alone. However when I try to use my domain name it adds wordpress to my url. example: iamrachelgcom.wordpress.com I desire iamrachelg.com only. thank you for your time

  Hello,

  Your WordPress.com blog comes with a free address, like example.wordpress.com. You can get rid of the .wordpress.com part and use a custom domain name instead, like example.com. Adding a domain is a paid upgrade

  (As you can read in the Domains article, if you want to use iamrachelg.com, you will need to map it: support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain )
