Do I have to have a link in my post to do a trackback?
-
I’m reading the faq and it just says I have to paste the link in the trackback box. Do I also need a link in the post? I’m confused. Thanks!

I suggest next time searching WP.com’s FAQ & Forums before posting.

The FAQ didn’t say anything about whether I needed a link in the post or not, just to put one in the trackback part. I’m confused. Thanks.

Can we start with something simple, like a link to your WordPress.COM blog? Starting with http:// this way the forum volunteers will know if the info we give even relates to you. thx

Yeah, that’s one of them, it was Blogspot but then I changed it. Why do you need to know the URL to answer the question, just wondering? It should be a typical wordpress blog.

Because we get a lot of folks here who haven’t bothered to read this sticky https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1

wow you guys are finicky, seems like you don’t answer questions most of the time you just refer to them to the FAQ. Alright, sorry. I am trying to understand trackback for my own blog. Its a wordpress.com blog http://fairvoteubc.wordpress.com I am trying to post it to another site, http://www.bloggingcanadians.ca In the submission form it asks for the trackback uri for the blog I’m posting to. The simple question is, what is that url?
That is, what is the trackback URL for my blog on wordpress.com I cannot find this answer in the FAQ.
Thank you. -
That url is the http://fairvoteubc.wordpress.com/ and I could have sworn it was in the FAQ.
We usually only fall back on “read the FAQ” when people refuse to provide a link to their blog. We need that link because fully 30-40% of the questions we are getting lately are from people referring to non-WP.com sites and that just completely wastes everyone’s time.
