Do I lose my registered domain if I dont renew on time?
-
I did not renew my registered domain before it expired. Now, I used the email I received as a reminder back in Nov 2014 and renewed. Now my domain sdcricket.org shows the following:
Expiring – will stop functioning on December 15, 2015
However, if type in sdcricket.org on the address bar, it does not take me to the site. Instead it redirects to http://www.dnsrsearch.com/index.php?origURL=http%3A//sdcricket.org/&r=
Please let me how I can get sdcricket.org back. If it is impossibe, I can register a new domain. Will I be able to map my new domain with my blog and retain all its contents/history? Also, can I get a refund of the domain I renewed (late) today?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I see conflicting info when I do a whois or Domain Checker
The Name servers don’t seem to be pointing to WordPress.COM
I have flagged this for the staff to help
See the section below on name servers

Hi there,
I’m afraid that the only thing which you renewed was the domain mapping for sdcricket.org. Right now your domain is in what is called a Pending Delete status, which means that it is no longer available to be renewed or redeemed by us with the registry. Over the next few days, they will be releasing it back to the general public and anyone will be able to purchase it for its usual price.
I have refunded you the $13 which you paid for the domain mapping. If you want to repurchase the domain, domain mapping is included in the price.
Let me know if you have any questions!

it looks like sdcricket.org has been released and is in the wild for anyone to purchase – so you can get that name back with no penalty if you want

Oh, how do I do now that I have registered a new domain and mapped it to my wordpress account?
-
You can register your regular domain and map it to your blog just like always – the domain mapping can be refunded withing 30 days or the staff could transfer the mapping to your old domain after you register the old domain again – then you would not need to pay twice
domain registration has a 48 hour refund window if you just registered a new domain – should be able to cancel from Dashboard >> Store >> My Upgrades
Since this was flagged originally for the staff they should see your reply
then can help you swap things around if you need help
you can have more than one domain name Registered and Mapped to a single blog – but only one domain name can be ‘Primary” (displayed for visitors) – a non-primary domain name will also work – just that visitors will never see the non-primary domain names
