Do I need a plan?

    Hello, I am in need of guidance!

    I am currently looking to set up a site where I can install a 3rd party theme and also use plug-ins to create a forum/possibly sell an ebook or provide a link to a third-party vendor where I can do this.

    I’m trying to save as much money as possible (Covid-19 era) so I am looking for the most cost-efficient way of doing this.

    Which plan- if I even need one- is best suited to support the above needs?

    It’s worth mentioning I already paid for a domain on Go-Daddy in march… would I have to transfer everything over or could I just link the domain name?

    Plugins and custom themes can only be installed on WordPress.com if you have at least the Business Plan Upgrade:

    So, if you have a domain you want to use at WordPress.com that you have hosted with Go Daddy, you do indeed have the option to map or transfer that domain.

    First, whether you map or transfer your existing domain, you will need to purchase a WordPress.com plan.

    The biggest factors to consider would be who you want to host your domain, how much your domain host currently costs compared to the domain + plans packages we offer here, and whether or not you want to host your domain and site at the same place.

    If you transfer the domain to WordPress.com, we’ll manage the domain. You’ll pay for the mapping and the plan here (domain is included within the plan price for the first year).

    But, if you keep the domain with your current host and map the domain to WordPress.com, your current host will continue to manage the domain and you’ll still need to pay them for hosting your domain.
