It is not possible to install plugins on WordPress.com for security reasons. Plugins can only be installed on self-hosted WordPress blogs. If you are wondering how WordPress.com differs from WordPress.org, this support article explains the distinction:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

We do include the functionality of many popular plugins on WordPress.com. What kind of functionality are you looking for?

    Hi Jackie
    Thanks for the response.
I wanted to install/activate the WordPress SEO plug-in in order to manage the posting dates or should I say remove the posting dates on my posts. I would prefer that my posts are not dated…
I’ve not been posting regularly, there are huge gaps between posts and I would like to refresh them a bit as to not appear abandoned.
Is there another way of doing this? I was also looking at the XML site-map for tracking pages of my site as I move forward as well. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciate it.

Also, I’m content with the WordPress.com platform….I’m not much of a coder. But I did have another question re: uploading mp3s. I’ve been trying all afternoon to upload some mp3s into my blog but rather it was the old way or the drop file way I keep getting this error – “error attaching media” not sure what’s going on there….When I try to upload with the ‘drop file’ option, and I get into my mp3 to upload, it’s not even available, it blanks out and I can’t select the mp3. And when I try the old way, I get that error message when I try to upload. Any feedback on that would be appreciated, thanks much.

You can modify the post dates at any time.

If you want to remove dates altogether, you will need to do so with custom CSS, which requires the Custom Design upgrade.

Likewise, to upload audio files, you will need a space upgrade:

Both of these come with the Premium upgrade, which also includes a custom domain. If you wished to upgrade to Premium, you could do so for a reduced price of $79 (since you already have a domain).

You can see all of your upgrade options in your Dashboard under Store > Store.

Thank you again for the response,
I’m not sure I understand why I need more space when I’ve only used 25.9MB out of 3.0GB it says so when I try to upload my mp3. You are welcome to check out the screenshot image that I uploaded stating just that in terms of the amount of space I have….can you elaborate on why the discrepancy?

    Thanks

You need the space upgrade to upload video and audio files. It’s not really an issue of space; it’s an issue of selling upgrades.

In order to upload audio files, we require users to purchase a space upgrade. This helps pay for bandwidth costs as well as storage.

If you don’t wish to upload the files to WordPress.com, we offer other options here as well:

How do I modify the post dates? Where would I go to do that?

  • Unknown's avatar

You edit the post and change it there. The calendar icon to the right of the Right Post box brings up a calendar and you ccan change the date/time there.
