Do I need a wordpress premium plan?

I am planning on migrating a website (which I don’t currently run) to wordpress. The person who currently runs the site has control over the hosting and domain name. Should I still purchase wordpress premium plan or is that not necessary

If you would like to use it here on WordPress.com all you need to do is “map” your existing domain to your site. You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site in order to map a domain. To add domain mapping , follow the next steps:
1- Go to the Domains page, select your site, and choose the Add Domain option.
2- Click the Upgrade button next to “Already own a domain?”
3-Enter the domain you’d like to map and click the blue Add button
4-Complete the checkout process for the domain mapping and WordPress.com plan (if you didn’t have a plan already).For more information, read the following guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

Domain mapping is a feature of all paid plans — Personal, Premium and Business. You can select which plan you would like to use on this page:
Add the plan to your cart and then add domain mapping.
