Do I need an IP address for my new WordPress site to redirect to it?

  I am trying to map from an existing domain to a new WP site. The current hosts of the old domain name (which I have paid for mapping to the new site for) say that the only way I can do this is by giving them the IP address of the WP site. I have two questions
  1) what is the IP address?
  2) does this change over time, meaning I will need to give them new addresses each time there is a change? I saw that this might be the case on another forum post.

  Hi,
  Wordpress encourages that you provide the nameservers instead of IPs because IP addreses can change over time and your domain may stop working.
  If you’re still required for A records, then you can contact support.
