Do I need to change WordPress usernames to secure my account?
-
The person who managed my website was replaced with another person and now I want to make my website secure by changing passwords, etc. so that the previous person doesn’t have access. Is changing the password enough or should I change the username also? Please reply as soon as possible.

Hi!
I think this question could be answered without needing the URL because it’s a common question. Do I need to change the username or is changing the password enough to make my account secure? I hope you understand it. Thank You.

I think staff asking for the URL of your site is a common question too! They need to know if the unnamed site is hosted here at WordPress.com (where they can assist) or if it is hosted at some other company (in which case you are in the wrong support forum).

The reason I asked is I needed to know if your account and website were hosted here at WordPress.com or if you’re using the WordPress software (from WordPress.org) hosted by another hosting provider. As we can only help with and advise with websites hosted on our platform, I wanted to make sure you had the right information.
But in general, you would only need to change the password. Changing a username isn’t necessary. You can read more about password security here: https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/password-best-practices/
I hope that clarifies things!

Now I understand your reason for asking for the URL. Thank you very much for solving my issue.
