Do I need to create a site index?

I was linking my blog web address to Google and Bing. There is an option to add a site index. I looked on WP on how to create a site index. Do I need to create a site index to to improve Google search?

Thank you!! You are the best! I thought so, just starting getting confused. Do I need to put that site map into Google Webmaster Tools? When I cut/paste it into the “add/test sitemap” , I get an error message.

Just add http://thedomesticadministrator.com/sitemap.xml to your webmaster tools.
If that doesn’t work, please quote the error message you received.

OK, I got it to work. I needed to “submit” then “test.” Working great now! Thank you Happiness Engineer! You may be feel like I sort of know what I am doing!
