Do I need to have a domain or will web space do?

    I have hosted web space that includes MySql databases, but I have not purchased a domain. I tried to install WP in a folder in my web space using Installatron.com but it didn’t work, saying that the location where the files were to be installed couldn’t be found (or words to that effect). It may be that I have not got the paths / locations correct, but I want to make sure that I do / don’t need a domain before I continue (most of the instructions for installing refer to a domain).
