Do I need to keep old hosting after mapping?

    I’m interested in cancelling my Godaddy hosted account for 9redsun.com and have the domain name mapped to my 9redsun.wordpress.com site. Additionally, and most importantly, I need to keep my email addresses associated with the old hosting account. After it is mapped to my WP.com site, do I need to keep the Godaddy host account live or can I shut it down?
