Do I need to pay?
-
All seems a little confusing, with a lot of companies charging for this, that and the other, offering plug ins, support and hosting etc.
We are a business, but we work B2B so no transactions will be taken through the website. It is just for marketing and interest purposes.
Is this something I will need to pay for?

Hi –
Thanks for getting in touch so we can help clarify the difference between what we do here at WordPress.com and using the open source WordPress.org software.
WordPress.com is a managed hosting environment. We take care of the back end details needed for a successful site. We include your support, hosting, themes, all of it :) There’s not a need to pay, and you can use it for free. The site you’ve registered is an example of one of our free sites: conorbrittain.wordpress.com
Using plugins, registering a custom domain, or other features do require an upgraded plan on our service. For example, if you need plugins, then our business plan is for you. That includes 24/7 live chat support among other things. Check it out: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
When you use the open source WordPress.org software you need to find a hosting provider and provide your own support/troubleshooting/and help. It’s much more hands on – and for some folks the right fit.
Take a look at this page: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Let’s figure out the right version of WordPress for your project and go forward from there.
