Do I need to pay for domain mapping if I am going to be self-hosted?

  My domain expires in a few days. I want to renew but will be going to self-hosted through Bluehost. Do I need to pay for domain mapping?

  Hi Ben – Yes, your domain is actually registered through us, so you’ll need to renew it. It’s not possible to purchase registration without mapping for domains registered here. Once you’ve renewed it, you can point it to your Bluehost site by updating the name servers, or you can transfer it out altogether:
