Do I need to pay for subscription to have the domain 'available' for my site?
-
I am pretty new to wordpress and 10-minutes ago, the domain ‘express-rip.com’ was still available. I haven’t paid for the business subscription yet, still a free user, so they automatically changed my site domain to ‘xxx.wordpress.com’, and when I selected ‘upgrade’->’domain’ to search for the original domain I wanted, I clicked on the ‘select’ button next to the domain and it turns into ‘unavailable’ right after. Once i paid for the business subscription, does it mean the original domain i want would be available again? and i can use it for my site?

Thanks @staartmees .. you’re right, that is still available.
@beverlychansw is there any chance you typed it without the dash on the second try? That one is not available, but express-rip.com is.If you’re having trouble registering that still, I’d recommend buying the plan, skipping the custom domain, then reaching out to support directly for more assistance. The Business Plan comes with priority support, so you’ll hear back quickly that way.
