Do I need to switch to WordPress.org?

  A web developer recently reconfigured my website recently but I find that it still is hard to operate. What plan do I presently have with WordPress and should I switch my site to WordPress.org, as you advise people to do. I operate it to advertise my books and for blogging. He also set up a book order page. Please advise.

  You’re posting into the support forum for free sites hosted at WordPress.com. People here don’t advise others to move to some other company that I’m aware of. Pretty much everything you could wish for in building a Blog or Website can be achieved right here with the appropriate plan for their needs. What is the full address of your site?

  O sorry. Obviously wrong WordPress support, although that was the only support option I found on their website. I will re-check. Thanks for your reply.

  I’d advise you further but without you revealing the address of your site I can only guess. If you used a “web developer” the chances are that you are already using the wordpress.org software and to find out what plan you’re on you’d need to know where your site is hosted and ask there (which is why i asked for the URL).

  Hi @piahorangross – Our best advice is to lean on your web developer for early help and ask if they can recommend any long-term support resources (since they know you and your site best).

  Observing from the outside I can say there are several really great resources you can turn to for help. I’ll point out a couple.

  1. The community support forums over at WordPress.org: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

  2. There are WordPress meetup groups in cities and metros around the world. They organize through Meetup.com. Go there and search for your city and “WordPress Meetup Group” to see if you can find a local group.

  Many meetup groups have turned to online streaming to keep the groups healthy and alive during the difficult time we all find ourselves in. We hope you find the help you need to build confidence in what you have and make your site a success.
