Do I need to upgrade to add a theme and develop my site?

    Hello,

    I have an existing site and domain with another provider which expires in February. I want to move my domain and site to the WordPress e-commerce package and have already purchased a premium theme I wish to use.

    I would like to upload the theme and begin working on the site in my spare time, which might take a week or two. I still want to have my other site running in the meantime so don’t want to transfer the domain until I have finished my new site.

    1). Can I work on my site and build it without upgrading just yet?

    2). How is it possible to allow my other site to continue but later transfer the domain?

    1). Can I work on my site and build it without upgrading just yet?

    Yes, you can, but if you like to upload your own theme you’ll first need to upgrade to the Business or eCommerce plan.

    2). How is it possible to allow my other site to continue but later transfer the domain?

    You’ll be assigned a temporary address and only when you’re ready to launch your new site you can move your domain.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your reply. I will upgrade to the eCommerce package but it asks me if I want to transfer my domain, which I do. I’m worried that if I set that up it will remove it from my existing site?

    There’s an option to use a .wordpress.com subdomain instead.
