Do I need to upgrade to change the CSS coding of a free theme?

    Hi there,

    Looking to make some changes to a free WordPress theme. Not sure if I have access to change the CSS code if I am using WordPress for free. My site is on wordpress.org hosted with paid hosting.

    Could someone confirm if I need to upgrade to be able to customize the CSS of the themes?

    Howdy mattlisa!!

    If you’re using a free WordPress.COM site you can’t change the CSS unless you’re on a Premium or Business Plan.

    If you’re attempting to customize the CSS on your self-hosted WordPress.ORG site (http://happyalchemist.net/ in this case), it’s definitely possible; however, you would need to go to https://wordpress.org/support/, create a new profile (if you don’t have one for WordPress.ORG), and ask how to change the CSS there for your NameCheap hosted site.
