Do I need to WordPress.com if my WordPress site is hosted elsewhere?

Is this web site (support, forums, themes, etc. only for sites hosted at wordpress.com? I am using WordPress on a couple different sites not hosted at wordpress .com and I am also signed up at wordpress.org. I never really understood why there are two sites I guess, but came to the realization today. The thing is I get these e-mails with new themes and such and today there was one I liked (Goran). Apparently it’s only available for blogs hosted here. Do these themes eventually become available to sites hosted elsewhere? Or should I just discontinue the update e-mails and perhaps remove myself from the .com site and just use wordpress.org? I don’t seem to get any e-mails from wordpress.org at all, but would like to know about new themes there.
Any advice appreciated! Thanks!

I liked the look of Goran too and would also like to know if it will be available on wordpress.org in the future.

I had not seen the post you referred to. It had not been posted at the time earlier in the day when I was looking at the theme, though it was clearly posted before I asked my question here. I actually would have asked in that blog’s comments but it specifically said not to post questions in those comments, although that didn’t stop anyone else. :)
