Do I need web hosting or just a domain?

  I have been wanting to get a domain for my wordpress.com website. I also want to use plug ins what do I need to do? Thanks

  You can get a domain by following these instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/register-domain/

  However you’ll only be able to use the plugins that are currently installed: https://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/

  If the plugin restriction is a deal breaker, consider self-hosting your WordPress site. Here’s more information about that: https://wordpress.org/
