Do I own my domain?

  Hi, I recently registered a new account. I paid a total of $26 for a domain registration, domain mapping, and private registration. My question is… do I truly own my .com domain? I was always under the impression that I needed to contact a site like GoDaddy and actually purchase the domain there, to then be able to use it through WordPress. Is this true? If not, how does it work?

  you own the name http://understatedrebel.com/ (rent actually since you need to renew it every year to keep using it) – you are hosted on WordPress.COM for free – the domain mapping is to change the name visitors see when they visit your site ( //understatedrebeldotcom.wordpress.com/) – note – you will always work in the base site /understatedrebeldotcom.wordpress.com/ – but visitors will see the custom domain name
