Do I two different accounts?

  • Unknown's avatar

I am confused about seeing what appears to be two different blogs. There is shanesaidwhat.com and then there is shanesaidwhat.wordpress.com. I upgraded to unlimited themes, but I can only access them when I am on the dashboard for shanesaidwhat.wordpress.com. I am confused. I want shanesaidwhat.com to be my blog. On that dashboard, I want access to unlimited themes. Why am I seeing two different dashboards?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When I just filled out this support ticket, it had a line that said “The blog I need help with” with a drop down menu. The only choice available was shanesaidwhat.wordpress.com. Now I look right above this dialogue and it clearly says on my support ticket the blog I need help with is shanesaidwhat.com. This goes to the heart of my confusion. I am somehow seeing two different accounts, depending in where I log in. They both use the same login info. Only one has the final website I see when I go to the URL shanesaidwhat.com. Unfortunately, that dashboard does not allow me access to the unlimited themes upgrade I purchased. Please help me!

    Hi!

Currently, it looks like you have two blogs:

    shanesaidwhat.com – a self-hosted blog on GoDadddy.com using WordPress.org software

    shanesaidwhat.wordpress.com – a WordPress.com blog

To be clear, WordPress.org and WordPress.com are completely different. You can read more about that here:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

It looks like you have purchased a Domain Mapping upgrade for shanesaidwhat.wordpress.com. In order to point your domain shanesaidwhat.com to your WordPress.com blog (so you have one “blog” going forward), you will need to change the name servers following the instructions here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#how-to-change-your-name-servers

Then, your domain and WordPress.com address will point to the same site. Does that make sense? Then, you’ll be able to use your Premium themes.

Finally, if you end up going this route, you’ll want to cancel the hosting you have at GoDaddy as your blog (and all content ) will be hosted at WordPress.com. Does that make sense?

Please feel free to ask any additional questions! I’m happy to clarify any of the steps/items above.
