    Hello there,

I’m trying to use another hosting company

It is actually your new website host, rather than WordPress.com, who will determine if you need to use an A Record or change your name servers.

Once you contact your new host and get the pertinent information, you can follow these instructions:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/setting-custom-a-records/

If you are struggling at all with the process, let me know. Please include the A Record or name server information in your next note.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

    Robyn,

Thanks! I was able to change the nameserver after several tries. Now, my memygirlsandournaturalcurls.com account is automatically redirecting to my memygirlsandournaturalcurls.wordpress.com

The host said it takes 48 to 72 hours… is this normal? Thanks! I’ve done DNS changes before but it feels as if it’s taking a very long time. Thanks!

Hi again! Nice work with the name servers :) Your host is correct — it can take up to 72-hours for changes to your DNS to propagate online. However, you may find that the adjustment happens much faster. If after the three days, you don’t see your site behaving properly, please let me know and I can look further into this for you! Thanks so much!
