Do I use my domain name from the start

    Hi

    I am very new to this, so am still carrying out research. Our website is extremely old and whilst I have somebody hosting it I feel it would make sense to re-build in wordpress.

    The question I have is about the domain name, as this is all new to me I wanted to know if I can create a website first and then look to transfer my domain name to it once I’m happy with what I’ve created?

    I’m wary that if I have to use my domain name from the start, then it will be live as I’m developing it and would rather be happy with the content first.

    If anybody can advise if I can do this and how to go about it that would be great!

    Hi eurestex –

    Great questions! What you can do is build your new site on the free .wordpress.com address that you register to the account.

    It can even be made private if you wish.

    When you have finished with the site you’ll add a plan upgrade to your account and then map the custom domain to the free site address (and unmark the privacy setting if applicable).
