Do images deleted from media library disappear from the blog?

  If I delete images (jpg) from my media library will they also disappear from the blog itself if I’ve uploaded them from media library?

  Have you exhausted your free media storage space? Look on your Media Library page at the top to see if that’s the case or not.
  Dashboard > Media > Library

  Have you deleted images from your Media Library? If you delete an image file from your Media Library then you are removing it from WordPress.COM servers and it cannot be displayed when a browser calls for it. In order to have the images display you have to upload them again.

  Have you hot-linked to images hosted on an other site?

  When you do that without permission the owner of the image can stop it from displaying on your blog.

  Alternatively when you do have permission the image may not always be available for display so you may see an error message such as: “We cannot complete this request, remote data could not be fetched” or words to like effect.

  OK, thanks. I’d assumed they would disappear but was confused because some I have deleted from ML still seem to be visible.

  Hi there,

  While images deleted from your media library do disappear off of your blog, the images are also cached in our Photon CDN for a few days. Once they have been given a chance to clear out they will be completely gone.

  If you’d like to provide me those URLs that @timethief mentioned, I can remove them now and then all you will need to do is clear your computer’s cache (because they can sit there as well, making it look like they’re online when they aren’t) and you’ll be good to go!
