Do Images Get Reduced in Size When Uploaded?

I uploaded a 101 KB JPEG file 900 pixels wide and 482 high.

But the image as inserted in my post is only 45.93 KB, 450 pixels wide and 241 high (scaled to 300 px x 161 px).

    It’s too small.

    But is that the limit?

Usually within all themes there is a specific size that will be allowed in image boxes. It appears that this is the issue with your site. If you will go back to the area of your site where you uploaded the image it will state the size that is recommended. If the image you are trying to upload is bigger than the image the system will place it and everything outside of that size will just not show. Like a 8×11 picture placed into a 4×5 frame. If you have a photo editing softward you can scale your picture down to the exact size you need.

    Thank you for your response.

On my upload screen it says, “Maximum upload file size: 1 GB.”

I just uploaded a 143 KB file, which looks huge in physical size when I view it in Windows Photo Viewer, but inserted into my post, it looks tiny.

    What am I not understanding?
