DO NOT LINK my profile name to a non-existent website with my now-deleted blog
-
I don’t want my log in name to be linked to my now-deleted blog. Does it have to link to anything if I post a comment?
Blog url: http://kimberlymeuse.wordpress.com/The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
If you want to you can link your username to your other blog and make it your primary blog in your blog Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to ‘Primary Blog‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes. This change is not retroactive.
-
My problem is that I am logged in elsewhere and others can link to a WordPress blog I no longer have, with my full name on it. I want to eliminate my name! is there a way to keep it from linking to the blog name I deleted?
-
Okay, here is my problem – I put another blog as my primary, saved the change and it STILL links to my deleted blog with the deleted message when I make comments. I’ve rebooted and retried to set the primary blog and it still doesn’t change…
-
Your username is currently linking to http://cobaltbluealizarin.wordpress.com/
Is this the site you intended?
-
Justjennifer: Yes – that’s correct. For some reason, last night even when I made that URL my primary, it was still linking to my deleted URL. Looks like there were linking issues yesterday anyway, so hopefully this is fixed.
-
Nope. When I go on another blog and click on my username in the comment section, it links to my deleted blog, even after changing my primary to another….HOW do I get that fixed?
-
You can’t, unfortunately. Old comments will continue to link to the old site.
If it is a big concern, then the only thing you can do is contact the site owners where you left the earlier comments and ask them to remove from the comment the website linked to your name.
I’m sorry this probably isn’t the reply you wanted to hear.

Actually I included that above: “This change is not retroactive. “

Please understand that what’s already indexed is in Google’s cache and will not magically disappear. They clear their caches every 3 – 6 months or so. Other search engines vever seem to clear thie caches. Also know that the comments are not going to disappear. As justjennifer said unless bloggers delete them they will remain.
Username accounts are not deleted. For more information, please see http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/
1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.
2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
http://wordpress.com/#!/following/subsettings/3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:

The owner of the blog site in question says he can’t access the ability to delete the website linked to my username

This isn’t about comments for me, it’s about my actual posts. When I write new posts they link to an old blog of mine where, obviously, my new posts don’t exist. I have activated the new blog as the primary account but still no luck. Yesterday I was told that new blogs were being redirected to the signup page, however this isn’t my problem.
If you go to paulbfowler.wordpress.com you’ll see that the posts link to an old blog. What do I do?
Thanks
