Do not receive forgot password link

    Hello! I work for a company who have a website hosted with wordpress.org and we recently changed the email associated with our login (to my email) and have forgotten the password we changed it to. Whenever I click forgot password it tells me it has sent me a forgot password link but never does (I’ve checked spam, all filters, junk mail, etc. and done this multiple times over a few weeks and it tells me when the email address is just incorrect/not an account).

    I have tried everything to contact wordpress.org directly about this, i have scoured forums (though i don’t seem to be allowed to post even when logged in and account confirmed) I have looked at all the help articles (none have helped or its hard to find ones relevant to not being able to log in to own site) there is no way to contact wordpress.org by email or social media on any platform so I have come here in hope of being directed to the right place/people.

    I would like to have an email to contact somebody or for somebody to call me about this as I am leaving my job next week and it is urgent that we reassign the email again and get the password sorted.

    WordPress.org is just the place where the open source WordPress software your site is built with, is made. Your site isn’t hosted on WordPress.org, and the community over there has no access to and no control over any aspect of your site. At most they can advise/recommend certain courses of action to troubleshoot issues with the software, and to a more limited extent, issues with your hosting.

    The only channel through which the WordPress.org community helps with that software is the forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/. WordPress.org isn’t a company that employs support staff and runs call centers, but a community of unpaid volunteers who contribute to and provide support for that software in their free time.

    The login details for your site are stored in the site database on your hosting provider’s servers, and any changes to the admin account need to take place there. If the password reset option doesn’t work, you can see https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/
    for alternative methods of updating the password. Your hosting provider might also be able to help you make the changes you need, if you want to try contacting their support instead.

    But that’s the best I’m able to suggest. The forum you’re posting to now is for WordPress.com, another hosting provider. We only have control over sites hosted on our servers.

    We don’t have any control over the WordPress.org forums, so aren’t able to help with the fact that you seem unable to post there, but you can try emailing the moderators over there at forum-password-resets [at] wordpress.org for help with that.
