Do the blogs at WordPress.com run the latest version of the WordPress software?

    Hello WordPress.com Forum Community,

Do the blogs at WordPress.com run the latest version of the WordPress software available at WordPress.org? In other words, when WordPress.org releases a new version of the WordPress software, is that new version of the WordPress software automatically pushed to the blogs at WordPress.com? The point to the question is this: if the blogs at WordPress.com are NOT running the latest version of the WordPress software, then they contain known vulnerabilities (that have been resolved in the newer versions of the WordPress software) that place blog visitors at risk for compromise, which is obviously a serious, and avoidable, condition.

If the latest version of the WordPress software available at WordPress.org IS being automatically pushed to the blogs at WordPress.com, how long does it take to complete the push and is there a way to confirm what version of the WordPress software is running at a particular WordPress.com blog? The version of the WordPress software that is running at a particular WordPress.com blog should be visible to blog admins via the dashboard, and perhaps to blog visitors via the blog footer or sidebar.

    Thanks,

    Steve

WordPress.com is more current than wp.org! We are the guinea pigs for the updates they do for wp.org. Every day our software brings some new lines of code.

Excellent: unless I’m goofy, I’d rather have the implications of new/guinea pig/beta/feeder code than the implications of old/known vulnerable code. Thank you for taking the time to provide the information. Much appreciated.

    Regards,

    Steve
