Do themes contain spyware

  I am using the theme Pilcrow by Automattic and after years of having a laptop without problems, my anti-virus now detects a hidden rootkit from Automattic. Do the themes contain some kind of spyware? I have never had a rootkit before and it seems too much of a coincidence that i now have one after recently starting this blog with a theme containing the same name as the root kit.

  They certainly shouldn’t.

  If this is a self-hosted blog, it’s possible that you were hit by a code injection hack.
