In Questions About Stats it says this:
On Blog Stats
The graph shows page views each day. Probably all of the views on your graph represent human visitors. What’s the Difference Between Blog Stats and Feed Stats has more.
When you visit a blog in your browser that counts as a visit. It would be 1 on the blog stats.
If you use a feedreader to read a blog without visiting that blog it would count as 1 feed stat.
They are independent of each other. When you visit a blog in your browser that counts as a visit. It would be 1 on the blog stats.
It seems this also applies to leaving comments as they are visits to the blog.

what abt the links to entries & comments rss in the meta widget? if people click on those are they part of the blog?
-
It would seem that any access to an rss feed regardless of where it is counts as a hit. That means just having someone read your comments feed, without ever making a comment, is a hit.

Please do not panic. It’s just a blog and not your life that’s at stake here. So, take a deep breath. The stats are counting “page views”. They are not recording individual unique visitors. So if one person comes and looks at 5 pages on your blog then 5 is what you get in the stats for page views. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/02/09/questions-about-stats/Also note that this thread is about feed stats entries and comments and that we no longer have a feed stats program.
Lastly, if you want more precise stats you can get a free stat counter from a third party site http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/07/28/can-i-have-a-statcounter-on-my-blog/

…and please remove the ‘www’ bit from your profile URL as it’s incorrect and the link will not work for many folks.
