Do we buy our specific domain name for wordpress

Can I buy a direct domain name from wordpress that I can later use for the blog which I have at wordpress? This way there will be no need to buy additional space, as wordpress will provide for it. Also how much is the costing and what is the procedure?

You can go to Settings > Domains and from there buy a domain.
If the blog is hosted here you have the free space.If you move your blog to another host then they provide the space.

You don’t have to, but it’s a little cheaper I think. But buying the domain name doesn’t mean that you get unlimited space; it only changes the domain name. It doesn’t exempt you from any other WP.com terms of service, etc.

Hi, Can I change my domain name after I’ve made my blog? i.e I created http://www.nicoljcraig.wordpress.com but i’d like to change the first part, without buying a new domain, i’d just like to change mine. is this possible?

No, but you can start a new blog and import the contents of that one into it. Just go to http://wordpress.com and hit Sign up a new blog under the list of blogs you already have.

If you buy your domain name from WP.com, I think it costs five dollars more than just domain mapping per year. If you buy it from somewhere else, I believe it costs ten dollars or more; I’m paying $28 per year for a domain name right now. Then you STILL have to buy the domain mapping, if you want to use that URL at WordPress.com
