Do we own what we post on WordPress?

Let’s say I post a story, do I own the copyright to it or does it go to WordPress?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes (providing you own the copyright in the first place!). Here is an answer from a member of staff in a previous thread:

    You create, it’s yours.
If you want to write the next book/movie blockbuster here we would not have a claim on a penny because it’s your work. (And we wouldn’t even try)
We do not own in any way, shape or form anything you write or post to your blog. Nothing. (except if you started copying all our work. That would be a little annoying because that is ours)

CNN blog with us, Top Gear do, many other organisations do and we own nothing of theirs. Every blogger here owns their own creations.

If you read the Terms of Service you will see that we do say we will use your blog posts. We do this so we can show your blog/posts on the tags pages, on the front page, in related links and anywhere else on wordpress.com where we promote how people are using wordpress.com to create and publish. It is no more complex than that. If you do not want that to happen we can make your blog ‘mature’ which will prevent linking, That’s not a complete guarantee but it’s pretty close. So that is all the TOS does.

But you own everything. We just give you the tools to create.

    Does that help?
