Do you back-up your blog?
-
When I read the wordpress.com guidelines, it says that they back-up everything, but I’ve been reading here and there that it’s a good idea to do your own back-ups too. Are any of you really doing that, and if yes, how? Is the “exported” blog complete (text, photos, videos, layout…)?? And if my blog for some reason should have a problem, would I be able to restore it with a personnal backup?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I do an export about once a month regardless, though I do not post frequently and I am the sole author on my blog, and, no, the backup will not include your photos, videos or layout/theme. http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/
This format, which we call WordPress eXtended RSS or WXR, will contain your posts, pages, comments, categories, and tags.
FWIW-I’ve never restored, nor needed to restore, my blog from a backup.
I do copy/paste my text widgets regularly into a text file for backup, especially when I’m making changes. This is especially helpful if you change themes and the new theme doesn’t display the widgets correctly.

I back up everything – but I’ve never used Export. As far as posts are concerned, I copy the whole content from the html editor and save it in simple text files.

I do backup my blog and have published a post that provides several different ways to do that. Disaster Planning: Backups for Bloggers http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2007/10/27/disaster-planning-backups-for-bloggers/
