Do you earn money with WordAds without custom domain?
-
I have a premium plan and have enabled WordAds and on the stats page it says I have earned some small amounts from my views, but nothing is showing up on my actual earnings?
Is this due to not having a custom domain? Or is there another explanation?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
You only earn money from WordAds is advertisers actually bid on ad slots on your site. How much you earn depend on how much they bid. If they don’t bid at all, we show in-house ads instead, so the ad slots at least don’t show as empty space on your site. Those will register impressions, but they don’t generate any income.
Looking at your site I’m only seeing in-house ads. I’ve asked our ads team to check if it’s simply a case of advertisers just not having started to bid on your site yet, or if something might be wrong.
Added to this, you need really high traffic to get any meaningful income. So it’s possible to only earn a few cents on hundreds of impressions. Given your site traffic is still very low, this is another likely reason. As your traffic grows over time, so will your earnings.

Ok so even though there is e.g. $0.16 income recorded from say 200 views, this is not actual income, just what would have been earned if advertisers actually bid on my adspace?
-
No, that is actual income you’ve earned so far. But as you see, it’s a very small amount relative to the traffic.
Good news is, our ads team has confirmed everything is working the way it should, and while I’m not seeing WordAds ads on your site, other people are. So advertisers are bidding, but not on all traffic at this point.
A couple things:
Most of your traffic comes from the EU. With the European privacy laws we can only show targeted ads to people who give permission for ads tracking, and they do that via a cookie banner. You can add that to your site via this widget:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/cookie-widget/
Without that, we can only show EU visitors generic ads that pay less.
But then also, without significantly more traffic you’re never going to have meaningful income from online ads. So for now rather focus on writing good quality original content that will draw people to your site, and otherwise promoting your site on social media, etc.
We have a page with some more tips on increasing your site traffic here:

So there should be small unicellular bits of income coming in from now on? It still shows total earnings as $0.00 on the dashboard even though statistics says e.g. $0.16?
-
Hi there,
Rates are vastly different depending on where the viewer is visiting from. Some countries pay significantly more for impression than others.
North American ads pay out at a much greater level than ads from other regions. So, as long as viewers are visiting your blog you should eventually see small earnings increase. Like @kokkieh mentions, I would primarily focus on creating good content and working on getting more traffic to your blog. The opportunity for more incomes will come as the traffic to your site increases.

I am slowly getting more traffic and there seems to be revenue coming in but on the ‘totals’ section, it shows $0.00 even though on the ads statistics it is showing a small amount $0.08 for the last two days. I appreciate that the traffic will have to increase before I earn anything decent, but is this zero amount on the earnings something that updates every month or something, or is there a reason the earnings are not showing?
-
The Total Earnings section is only updated at the end of the month when the final earnings for the full month is calculated. The 0.01 total you see there is for the day or two that WordAds were active on your site for March. April earnings will only be added to that at the end of April.
