Do you have to renew domains if they were transferred?

  I originally purchased bendouwsma.com a few years ago and have since moved it to a blog I have on Squarespace and pay $10/month. I’m getting renewal notices from WordPress; I’m wondering if my domain will still expire even though it’s no longer attached to my WordPress blog.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hello there!

  You domain, bendouwsma.com, is still hosted here at WordPress.com. It is mapped to a site that is not hosted here.

  If you want to continue using it for this other site, you must renew. However, it doesn’t have to be here at WordPress.com. If you’d prefer to move your domain to another host, you can do that as well.

  You are also welcome to keep the domain here, and renew it before it expires.

  Whether you choose to host your domain here or another host, it must be in good status, or you could lose ownership.
