Do You know where I can get this template?
-
Hi, I am desperate to get my hands on a very simple template. I want one with exactly the same features as this: http://www.petrolprices.com/blog/protesters-to-fire-warning-shot-to-the-government-88.html
I only want to have a description followed by comments and something similar to the voting hand on that site.
I have looked till I’m blue in the face but can’t find anything. All other templates are too busy with information and links etc. I just want the basics as described above.
Anyone able to help me?
Thanks

You will not be able to use such a theme at WordPress.com. Without the CSS upgrade, you are limited to the themes on your Presentation page. With the CSS upgrade, you would not be able to add that functionality.
If you hired a web designer and bought the VIP upgrade, you could probably do it, at a cost of several hundred dollars a month, plus initial investment.
If you must have this, you’ll probably want to head over to WordPress.org and hire a web host and run your own WP install, where you don’t have these restrictions. It would be easy.

It’s the voting that you can’t have (also the ads). There are some threads on what you can use (Polldaddy, I think?) but it doesn’t work like that thing.
You could presumably use a very basic theme like Kubrick and simply wipe out all the contents of the sidebar by putting a widget in it and then removing it. That should zero out the sidebar, making it empty. And then use whatever suggestions you find in the Poll search to add polling to your site.

Thanks raincoaster, not the answer I was looking for but hey ho. What if I were to do without the voting system? Is there a bare plane template for people to comment on my thoughts? I am not interested in advertising either.
Simply a white page for people to comment funnily enough, similar to this one, except it collects their email addys so we can contact them later for more info.
Cheers

Without the voting system? Dead easy. All you’d have to do is pick a relatively stark theme, like Kubrick, the starter theme, and put a widget in the sidebar and then take it out. That should wipe it and leave it totally empty.
But if you are collecting email addresses to contact them later, you’ll probably have to give a specific warning about that on the page, as it’s under US privacy laws. I know in Canada you have to.
You can also use the Contact Form, so people can contact you and ask to be put on a list. That’s in the FAQ:
