Do you need a premium account to host a purchased premium theme?

    Hi there- I want to purchase one of the premium themes. I currently have a basic plan and want to upgrade to premium for 1 year – but I’m not planning on having the premium plan on WordPress forever. Can I revert back to a basic plan but still keep the premium theme that I paid for? Or will I have to choose a free theme when I revert to the basic plan?

    Hello there,

    If you have found a premium theme that you want to purchase and use with your free WordPress.com site you can do so without upgrading. Did you want to upgrade for other reasons?

    Simply follow the instructions here to select a premium theme: https://en.support.wordpress.com/premium-themes/#how-to-get-a-premium-theme

    When you purchase a Premium theme, it is available for the lifetime of that blog. Sometimes, we may decide to retire a Premium theme because it’s dated from a visual or functionality standpoint. If that happens, you can continue to use the theme for as long as you like, but if you switch to another theme, you can’t change back.
