Hi there!
We have a guide for adding Paypal buttons here:

Let me know if I can help with anything else!

I am using the code from my existing site and dropping it into the Text Editor. The image comes up but rejects the link. Do I need to be logged into Paypal?

The code from your existing site likely won’t work because of the types of code that we don’t allow here on WordPress.com. The guide I linked to above will show you a way to make Paypal buttons that work on WordPress.com. And you will need to log into Paypal for part of the set up.
Let me know if you have any more questions!

I learned that WordPress.com only accepts the shortcode generated when you create your Paypal button. When you create your button, you have a choice between “Website” and “Email” code. You MUST choose the “Email” code. If the button you choose does not have a shortcode option, you cannot use it. (Like the “Subscribe” button). No pull down menu capability. You have to make individual buttons instead. Not all together tragic. Just time consuming to figure it. Thanks for your help.

Yep! This is all laid out in our Paypal doc that I linked above:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
We have the step by step directions because we know that the traditional embed buttons won’t work here on WordPress.com.
If there was anything confusing in that doc, let me know and I can get it updated. :)
