Does add background image in every page required storage?

I cant find the cause of my full media, i already delete some of my media but it doesn’t seems like it reducing the number.. my media is still full. This problem happen after i smush all my media. So i would like to ask for support, is attach image to multiple page increase the size of that media every picture i put in pages?
