Does adding the 'Read More' tag guarantee more hits?
-
I have 700 subscribers, but nowhere near as many hits on each new post. Now some of that could be because some subscribers just don’t want to read my post, but it could also be because they skim through the post in the Reader, which of course doesn’t count as a hit.
If I inserted the Read More tag, should I expect an increase of traffic?

Depends how compelling your introductory paragraphs are, but generally speaking yes.
One of my blogs displays whole posts in both feed and on the blog page, and it averages 1.7 reads per viewer. One has truncated posts in both feed and blog page, and it averages 1.3. That’s a function of the first being a weird humour blog and the second being more industry-focused. Business blogs are more likely to be skimmed.
