Does an update notify followers?

I am thinking of a new “daily topic” on my blog. If I update the “daily topic” page, will that notify followers that the content has changed?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    You are welcome

a notice is sent to followers when a Post is first published, edit all you want and no other notices are sent – It is not unusual for me to edit a Post several times after it is published for one reason or another

I guess my only option is to post today, delete it tomorrow, and create a new post with the same name.

Don’t delete the post itself. Edit it and change the content of that post instead (ie edit the post, as @auxclass said).

If you delete the entire post and replace it with a new post, that will most likely ping the change because the date of the post will have changed.

As an example, today a post’s address would be yoursite.wordpress.com/2016/01/01/my-post Delete it and replace it tomorrow with a new post, the post’s address would be yoursite.wordpress.com/2016/01/02/my-post

I’m not entirely certain that even if you backdated the post to 2016/01/01 it wouldn’t ping your subscribers.

Of course there is also a question of whether you are damaging your authority by doing this, but that is an entirely different subject.

Also, please ignore the spam. Staff will clean it up when they can.

Jennifer, what you are saying is what I want to happen. If I delete yesterday’s post, then create a new one with the same name, it will alert my followers. That is what I want to happen.

Ah, then, I misread your intention. :)

    Best wishes.
