Does any theme have no header image?
-
I really don’t want to fuss much with images. I just want to put up a blog. Is there a theme that does not have header images, or, can I use a supplied theme and remove the silly images that are in it? If so, how? I really do not want an image, since the ones that are there are not relevant to my content.
The only thing I can think of is to create a solid color block, use that as an “image,” then replace the silly stuff that is there already. I wish I could just have a blank page. Are there any plain themes, without the frills?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can remove or replace any default header image on any theme. And you do not have to upload a header image at all if you do not want one.

re: switching themes
Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs.
Note that switching themes https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes can be easily done, provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the site, you tohttp://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php
*Replace NAME_OF_BLOG in that URL with the actual name of your blog. wp-admin/themes.php
We have a preview function. No content is lost when switching themes on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. It does not matter if the site is private or public.
Provided you are logged in as Admin under the username account that registered the site go to https://wordpress.com/themes and type in your key words, or the name of theme.
If you are not logged in under the correct WordPress.COM username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into another account
If you did not register the site and do not have the required access you need to contact the person who registered the account and site under it and have them either act, or transfer the site to your username account by using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.

I don’t understand. No matter which theme I switch to, there’s some dumb picture there I can’t seem to delete. I used to be able to get rid of these pictures. Now I can’t delete them. Can you explain how to just delete, not replace but get rid of entirely. NO PIC at all.

When we need Staff help with issues Volunteers cannot resolve like this one we type modlook into the sidebar tags on our forum threads. I did that for you. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then we subscribe to this thread so we are notified when they respond. Hi,@juliemadblogger,
Did you try this one that @timethief recommends above? It does not have a header image
See this theme please https://wordpress.com/theme/penscratch-2
I just tried it. :-) I would definitely see if that one would work for you.
-
unfortunately that one had a pic, too. I don’t understand because in the demo there was no pic. But when I switched to that one, I had a pic in my blog I couldn’t get rid of.

Looks like you’re looking for a theme without a site logo. Why not try the original Penscratch?

This theme original Penscratch is retired unless you used it on the site previously you will not be able to use it. https://wordpress.com/theme/penscratch

@juliemadblogger by header image, do you mean the blue and white design thing (your avatar) that’s appearing above the site in your current theme?
-
I will reiterate you can remove the header image in many themes. Your theme does not currently have a header image on.
If you want to remove the gravatar, head to Customize > Theme Options and erase the email address that’s listed there. That way it won’t be able to display a Gravatar at all.
-
Also, about the “first blog post” image that appears in preview, that goes away when you actually start blogging and delete that post. Hope that helps. :)

No, I know what a gravatar is. Those are tiny squares, sometimes snowflakes. These are stupid large images, annoying decorations I need to get rid of. They have no relation to the content of my blog. I’m trying to put up a new blog. This is a banner or large image. It’s ugly and mine looks like puke. I’ts not the gravatar, it’s a stock image that’s a banner in some themes and large and square in others, I don’t know why it looks like puke but it does. I think it’s a barrel of nuts but still….
-
Perhaps we aren’t looking at the same site? This is the one you mentioned. It has a gravatar but no header image that I can see, except on the sample post — which you’ll hopefully be getting rid of anyway.

@supernovia
I believe you just hit the nail on the head.@juliemadblogger
Is http://juliemadblogger.com which is hosted by Colo4 the site you are on about here? If yes then note who your host is.
Name Servers:
ns1.asmallorange.com
ns2.asmallorange.comYou are posting to the wrong support forum for support for your software. Also be aware of who the web host is for your site(s) and contact them for any hosting issues.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
This is wordpress.COM support. That site is not on our servers and we do not provide support for wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites wordpress.com account page.
The wordpress.ORG support forum is at http://wordpress.org/support. The wordpress.ORG login link is here https://login.wordpress.org/ If you do not have an account yet then click Create an account https://login.wordpress.org/register/ and if you have lost an account password click Lost password? https://login.wordpress.org/lostpassword/

I’m trying to make a NEW dot com site, not a dot org site. U already have a dot org site and I know the difference please don’t treat me like I’m stupid. Thank you. That is why I went to the dot com forum. I do have a dot org site but this is a separate site I am trying to make, a new site.
