does askimet (sp?) ever miss spam
-
Remember that I am new to wordpress somewhat. I let my personal blog sit for over a year without updating and had a full spam folder of comments when I finally logged back in. Now I am blogging more actively and have gotten several comments that are either very good spam, or are real comments. Here is the latest:
“Hi … I stumbled on this site by mistake. I was searching in Yahoo for beach suggestions for my trip when I found your site, I have to say your page is pretty informative, I just love the theme, its amazing!. I don’t have the time at the moment to totally read your site but I bookmarked it and also will sign up for your RSS feeds. I will be back in a day or two. thanks for a great site.”
Just vague enough that I suspect it is spam. I have deleted several like this, but now a voice in the back of my head that wonders if I am deleting real comments. Askimet seemed to work well for over a year. Seems strange that all of the sudden some comments are squeaking by. Opinions?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s spam. I have received several pseudo comments like it as well. Mark it as spam so Akismet will recognize it as such.

That is spam. Spammers are constantly refining their pitches, and that’s a classic one. Akismet improves when people mark spam as spam.

Agreed. We bloggers have to educate spam filters so they recognize this spam that’s in disguise. :)
