does being flagged as mature remove my categories

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve noticed today when writing up a recent blog that the ‘tags and categories’ has been removed from the settings side bar. I just read about ‘mature’ flagging and I’m wondering if that’s because of that? If is, does using a personal domain still linked to this remedy that situation at all? Thank you for your support.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

A blog or website that is marked as Mature is excluded from public areas of the WordPress.com service. This means:
This is in the relevant support doc for mature content blogs and it applies whether or not the blog is on a custom domain. It applies to all blogs hosted by wordpress.COM.
It is not eligible to be featured in Freshly Pressed
It will not appear in the Reader or other tag listings
It will not appear in Top Blogs listings, recent posts, or related posts listings on other blogs
The blog’s users cannot use that URL as a link in their WordPress.com Forums profile

P.S. I see a categories widget in your sidebar that directs to posts withing your own blog, as would be expected.

Yea I was reading about that. I’m just confused because while it is still there when you look at the blog it’s not available anymore when I’m about to post a new one for some reason. The whole tag section is gone and I’m about to post something but I can’t put it in a category, which Is pretty important.

That sounds like a new post editor issue me. Try creating your posts here Dashboard > Posts > Add new and see if you can add categories and tags easily when you do.

Aaahh, that did the trick. Very strange, thanks so much for your help. I’m going to hang onto to this link for future reference. Thanks again.

I’m happy I was able to help. Staff still need a heads up on this so I’m tagging this thread for them to take note of the new Beep Beep Boop editor issue you had.

  • Interesting… I tried logging in as you, and I can see tags and categories here. I’m using Chrome and Mac and the beep beep boop editor. I also noticed you had removed the mature flag, so I re-added it briefly to confirm whether I had the same issue. The mature flag (which I’ve removed) didn’t seem to affect things.

Can you confirm what environment you’re using?

Also, if you’re interested, you’d be welcome to try out a newer editor by responding here:

Yea for some reason when I recently tried to post a blog the entire Tag section was just not there. And I had no idea I was flagged as mature…I have no idea how to add or remove that. I kinda thought I might be and that’s what was causing my issue. It seems to be fixed now, so I have no idea what the issue was.

  • If the content is mature (more details here) you really should mark the site as such, but from what I saw, it is fine without that label.

Either way that shouldn’t take your tags and categories away. If you see that again, or if you need any other help, just let us know. Glad to have you here writing with us!
