Does creating an account with Matador also create an account with wordpress?
-
When I signed up for matador, the registration seemed to be run by wordpress.
However, I transferred my blog I wrote from my wordpress username to my matador account name…except i can’t seem to log in to this wordpress account.
I also can’t register a new wordpress account to recover this blog. Maybe it’s already taken, but I don’t know how to search out wordpress users.
How can I get my blog back?

I’ve been here at WordPress.com for over 6 years and I’ve never even heard of Matador.
In order to help you get access to your blog Staff need one of the following things in order to correctly identify you as the blog owner:
1. an email from the email address associated with the account or revealing what that associated email address was
2. the wordpress.com API key for your account. This was included in your welcome email with a note to keep it safe. Please do not post the API key here.
3. if you have purchased any upgrades for the blog a transaction number
You will need Staff help. Please be patient while waiting as I have flagged this their for their assistance.

Thanks.
It’s called matadornetwork.com
This is their log-in page, which confused me, making me believe that the account I registered with matador was also a word press account.:

We provide support only for free blogs provided and free hosted by WordPress.com on this support forum. We cannot help you here with that site at all. Please contact them http://matadornetwork.com/content/about/contact/

No, I know, but I don’t have any issues with their site.
I just registered with them, but thought I was also making a Word Press account based on that log-in screen. So, then, I logged onto my separate Word Press account I’ve had for about a year and transferred my blog to the username that I’d created with Matador, thinking that this was also an account I’d made with Word Press and that it would make it easier to post things on Matador.
Instead, my blog was transferred to a username I don’t control…which perhaps no one controls…and yet, I also can’t sign up for a new Word Press account as that username.
So, I just want to get my Word Press blog back under my control.

It looks like Matador might be powered by WordPress.ORG software – that means that anything you signed up for there is not related to your WordPress.COM blog that is here – different account – log-in etc. if the user name you used at Matador is not used here you can sign up for an account here with the same name but it will have a different password etc

Yeah, thanks for your insights.
Do you guys get paid?
One of the great mysteries of the web to me is how forums like this function, why people go out of their way to help baffled individuals who dug their own holes, with no promise for reward afterward. Maybe “$elf-interest” isn’t the only thing that motivates people…
Anyway, thank you for flagging my issues–I hope I get to recover what I created!

You don’t need staff assistance. What you have is a blog at Matador using WordPress.ORG software. This is a forum for blogs hosted at WordPress.COM. We cannot help you here. You need t look to Matador and to WordPress.org for help with your blog.
-
Not the case, we already went through this. I DEFINITELY NEED STAFF ASSISTANCE.
I had a blog at WordPress.com (charlesfp924) and a new login at Matador (charlesfp) which uses a WordPress.org portal. Thus, I mistakenly thought my Matador account was also a wordpress.com account.
I moved my WordPress.com blog from my username, charlesfp924 to charlesfp, thinking that that user was also me. As it turned out, I only had that username at Matador, not at WordPress.com. However, someone must have the name charlesfp because wordpress.com doesn’t allow me to sign up for it, either.
So…what I wrote is out of my control, and I don’t know what to do about it. Ergo, staff assistance definitely necessary.

Wait, you mean it’s actually possible to transfer a blog to a username which is not you? Wow. WOW. I can’t believe we haven’t seen more of these in the forums yet. That’s a huge, gaping hole.
-
@raincoaster – quite possible – all I needed to do was click on the email link that said I would not have access to the blog I created but is now in your dashboard – Hope you like the Birthday present and the blog name :)
No requirement for the target account to do ANYTHING at all –
Yes I can see some problems here with someone making a spelling error on the target account name – might be worth some thinking about the process a bit
Or confusion on the account name like the OP did here
-
HA! That is amazing and accounts for so many of the issues around “I don’t have access to my blog anymore”. WHY in god’s name would you make it irreversible in the same step? Just make it a two step process separated by a week or a month. Easy.

You be welcome & happy blogging
Now you and timethief have something you can write about
-
So, what do you think the timeframe is for the “OP” to get some help on this?
It frustrates me that WordPress.com disabled or took-down their technical support contact information, when clearly I have to get in touch with someone with admin capabilities, there’s nothing I can do.
Does anyone commenting on this thread have the power to bring my plight to the attention of someone who can do something about it?
thanks
